The El Paso Fire Department visited Options Head Start to teach children about fire safety and what to do in dangerous situations.
Firemen Luis Lopez, Edmundo Valencia, and Luis Rodriguez also demonstrated the function and operation of the firefighter's personal protective gear and fire engine, and methods firefighters use to comfort and protect children in a fire emergency.
"It's important to educate children on fire safety at an early age and allow them to meet our community's emergency responders so that they recognize them as a place of safety," says Options Head Start center manager Laura Gonzales.
To their delight, children were also given an interior tour of the fire engine and treated to the lights and sirens.
