Custodial and Facilities Services

The Facilities & Custodial Service Department is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary learning environment for our 29 Head Start centers and administrative offices. With the belief that a safe and healthy learning environment is necessary for children to learn, the Facilities & Custodial Service Department, ensures compliance with health and safety requirements as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards, Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers as well as the National Association for the Education of Young Children Accreditation Requirements.

Our department ensures the National Playground Safety Standards are met and exceeded to ensure a safe environment for children's outside play. And, with 42 custodians disinfecting and sanitizing equipment, toys, and classrooms we are maintaining a healthy, germ-free learning environment for our Head Start children. In-house, collaborative, and contracted services are all a part of the services that make the Facilities/Maintenance & Custodial Service Department unique to the Region 19 Education Service Center Head Start Program. Everyone entering a Head Start facility will be directly affected by the maintenance & cleanliness of the building so it is our goal to keep all stakeholders in a safe and comfortable learning environment.
