Much of a child’s early learning experiences take place outside of the classroom. Providing environments which enrich children’s learning, interaction with their community, and exploration of the world around them is an important part of a holistic early childhood development program.

Academic Enrichment Services support and extend the cognitive development and enrichment of all Head Start Preschool children through the use of innovative environments,  lessons and hands-on research based activities such as, the IntelliZeum, Career City, Technology Learning Center, and Libraries, which are aligned to the preschool curriculum in order to promote and support school readiness.

The IntelliZeum is a state of the art interactive museum designed to enhance knowledge in the areas of the educational process with an emphasis in literacy, math, technology, science, history and the fine arts.

Career City
is another exclusive environment, this innovative learning environment will give children the opportunity and resources to develop lifelong skills in order to bring awareness of different professional careers that will enable children to become responsible and productive citizens in their community.

Libraries:
There are three Head Start Library environments geographically located within the El Paso County; John Uxer Library, James R. Vasquez Library and Pete Duarte Library.  These unique libraries give all Head Start children the opportunity to gain knowledge of its functions and acquire an appreciation for reading and building their literacy skills.
